The original PXth century atmosphere has finally been restored to the historic remains on Dejima Island. During its period of national isolation, Dejima was Japan's only window to the world. Peer through a window to the past and witness the coming and going of merchants, translators, seamen as well as Japanese officials, townspeople and mistresses. |

Marvel at the spectacular night view while sipping a cool beer. The summit of Mt Inasa can be reached by getting off at Fuchi-Jinja Station and taking a taxi or via the ropeway. |

A mainstay of summer in Nagasaki, this festival held in Nakashima Park near Spectacles Bridge features stands selling local specialties, candy floss and Japanese sweets as well as traditional games such as goldfish scooping and ring-toss. Nagasaki Hydrangea Festival

German physician and scientist Philipp Franz von Siebold who lived and conducted research in Nagasaki first introduced the Japanese Hydrangea Otakusa to Europe, naming it after his wife Taki. Beautiful hydrangeas in full bloom will be on display on Dejima, in Glover Garden, Nakashima-gawa Park, the Siebold Memorial Museum and various other places around Nagasaki. These displays will be complemented by a variety of events. |
